Is Coconut Sugar better for us?
Have you heard of the new sugar alternative Coconut Sugar?
Itβs a natural sugar made from coconut palm sap, not from the coconut itself. The flavour and colour of coconut sugar can vary depending on the species used to make it and when it was harvested, but generally speaking it has a taste similar to brown sugar with hints of caramel.
You can use it in your drinks, for baking and cooking to replace regular sugar.
Why is Coconut Sugar better?
Coconut sugar retains many nutrients found in the coconut palm β mostly iron, zinc, calcium, and potassium. These nutrients can support the body in numerous ways, but coconut sugar does not contain enough of them per serving to offer a measurable benefit.
Coconut sugar also contains the soluble fiber inulin, which is linked to a lower risk of blood sugar spikes.
